New Delhi: Amid tensions with the US and South Korea, North Korea once again fired a ballistic missile on Thursday morning. Quoting the South Korean military, media reports said that North Korea fired a missile towards the Sea of Japan as a provocation. After this, the Government of Japan has issued an alert for the citizens. North Korea has claimed that these weapons are capable of causing radioactive tsunami.

Japan has also confirmed the release of the missile by North Korea. At the same time, the Japanese government has issued an alert asking residents of the island of Hokkaido to evacuate immediately and take shelter in buildings or underground shelters. According to the warning, the missile was expected to land at around 8 am local time. However, local officials in Hokkaido later stated that there was no possibility of the missile hitting the island.

Significantly, North Korea has been testing weapons continuously since the beginning of this year. Recently the media claimed that it has tested a nuclear-capable underwater drone and two intercontinental ballistic missiles. North Korean state media reported that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un attended a meeting of the Central Military Commission on Monday. The meeting discussed waging a war of aggression against the American imperialists and puppet traitors of South Korea.
