Heavy rains in China; 15 dead, 3 missing, transportation-electricity supply disrupted

New Delhi : Torrential rains in southern China have killed 15 people, while three others are said to be missing. China’s official Xinhua news agency quoted the information office of Wuping County as saying that two buildings were destroyed in the landslide in Fujian province. Eight people died in it.

National broadcaster CCTV said in its report that five other people had died and three were missing in Yunnan province. Three children were washed away with floodwaters Friday in Xincheng County in the Guangxi region, two of them were killed and one was rescued, officials said.

Roads, bridges, power plants damaged
Roads, bridges, telecommunications and power plants were damaged in Yunnan province’s Qubei County. This place is 130 km away from the Vietnam border. The traffic system has been badly affected. People are facing difficulties in commuting. Help is being provided by the administration.

In its report, Xinhua said five bodies were recovered from the rubble of a factory in Fujian and three from the rubble of a residential building. It has been raining in Whooping County since Thursday evening. In a video shared online, the streets are full of muddy water. There are reports of roads being partially washed away at many places.
