Tarkarli Beach Tragedy: A tragic incident took place at Tarkarli beach near Malvan, Sindhudurg district in Konkan. Five tourists, all from Pune, drowned in the Tarkarli sea. The group of tourists from Pune had gone for a swim at around 11:30 AM on Saturday. They were unable to gauge the water conditions, and soon began to drown. Water sports personnel nearby spotted the situation and rushed to their aid. Their prompt action saved the lives of three tourists, though, unfortunately, two could not be rescued in time.
The deceased have been identified as Shubham Sushil Sonawane (Hadapsar, Pune) and Rohit Balasaheb Koli (Hadapsar, Pune). Omkar Ramchandra Bhosale (Pune) is currently undergoing treatment. The other two tourists were successfully rescued, and their condition is stable. All the tourists have been admitted to the Sindhudurg District Hospital for further treatment.
The group of tourists was staying at the MTDC Tarkarli beach. Around 11:30 AM, they decided to swim but underestimated the water conditions, leading to the tragic drowning incident. Fortunately, young water sports enthusiasts from the nearby area, including Zilu Chavan, Nilesh Raul, Naresh Tikam, Rajan Tari, Bhai Aazgavkar, Kumar Rathod, and others, managed to rescue three of the drowning tourists.
In addition to the water sports team, local villagers, along with lifeguards from Jai Ganesh Scuba, Gajanan Scuba, and Vikrant Scuba, came to the rescue. Their joint efforts were crucial in saving three lives, although, tragically, two could not be saved.
The victims were quickly provided with first aid and rushed to the hospital via an ambulance. The timely and courageous actions of the water sports team and local helpers made all the difference in this unfortunate incident.
