Mumbai: Kolkata 2001 to Brisbane 2021: The Test series between India and Australia is about to begin. The first match of this series will be played in Nagpur from Thursday. India has had a good record in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy so far. It has defeated Australia many times in Test format matches. But the victory of five of these matches was very memorable. It includes matches played from Kolkata 2001 to Brisbane 2021.
Kolkata Test, 2001
Team Australia, captained by Steve Waugh, was very dominant. It had skilled bowlers like Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne. But the Indian team captained by Sourav Ganguly was also no less. In the year 2001, the Australian team came on a tour of India for a three-match Test series. During this, it won the first Test by 10 wickets. The second Test was played in Kolkata. In this, India made a spectacular comeback and won the match by 171 runs. VVS Laxman scored 281 runs in the second innings for India.
Adelaide Test, 2003
Team India went on a tour of Australia in the year 2003. During this, a four-match Test series was played between the two. The first match of this series was a draw. After this, India won by 4 wickets in the second Test. Australia scored 556 runs in the first innings and 196 runs in the second innings. In response, India won the match by scoring 523 runs in the first innings and 233 runs in the second innings. For India, Rahul Dravid scored 233 runs in the second innings. While Laxman played an innings of 148 runs.
Bangalore Test, 2017
The Australian team came on a tour of India in 2017. During this, the second Test was played in Bangalore. The Indian team was all out on a score of 189 runs in the first innings. KL Rahul scored 90 runs in the first innings. Australia scored 276 runs in the first innings. Team India scored 274 runs in the second innings with the help of Pujara’s innings of 92 runs. But after this, Ashwin took 6 wickets and the Australian team was all out on a score of 112 runs.
Melbourne Test, 2020-21
The second match of the Test series was played between India and Australia in December 2020 in Melbourne. Australia scored 195 runs in the first innings of this match and 200 runs in the second innings. In response, India won the match by scoring 326 runs in the first innings and 70 runs in the second innings. Ajinkya Rahane scored a century in the first innings for Team India. He scored 112 runs in 233 balls. It was important in India’s victory.
The Gabba, Brisbane Test, 2021
Team India defeated Australia by 3 wickets in Gaba. In this match, Australia had scored 369 runs in the first innings. While 294 runs were scored in the second innings. In response, Team India won the match by scoring 336 runs in the first innings and 329 runs in the second innings. Team India player Rishabh Pant was the player of the match. He scored 89 runs in the second innings.
