Land Acquisition Process:
The process of acquiring government land involves several steps. The PMC submits a proposal to the district collector’s office, which then consults with relevant departments like the forest department and local self-government institutions.
Once approvals are obtained, the land is surveyed, and its market value is determined. The PMC is required to pay a fee for the land, based on the prevailing market rates, except for land acquired for water supply projects.
Importance of Land Acquisition:
The timely acquisition of these lands is crucial for the successful implementation of the PMC’s development plans. These projects aim to improve the city’s infrastructure, enhance the quality of life for residents, and address the challenges posed by rapid urbanization. (Pune Municipal Corporation)
