Pune Metro Phase 2: The Pune Metro is gearing up for significant expansion with Phase II, introducing seven new lines to enhance connectivity across the city. These proposed routes aim to provide efficient and sustainable public transport options for a larger population.

Key Proposed Routes in Pune Metro Phase 2:

Pending Central Government Approvals:
Vanaz to Chandani Chowk (1.2 km, 2 stations)
Ramwadi to Wagholi/Vitthalwadi (11.63 km, 11 stations)
Khadakwasla to Swargate to Hadapsar to Kharadi (25.66 km, 22 stations)
SNDT to Warje to Manikbagh (6.12 km, six stations)

Awaiting PMC Clearance:
Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor (11.35 km, 10 stations)

Future Expansion:
A detailed project report is currently being prepared for the Nigdi-Mukai Chowk-Wakad-Nashik Phata-Chakan route to explore further expansion possibilities.

Current Progress:
The tendering process for the Swargate-Katraj line extension is nearing completion with the appointment of a contractor anticipated soon.

Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil expressed satisfaction with the current operational efficiency of the Pune Metro. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to securing approvals for Phase II and ensuring smooth operations for the city’s commuters.
