Pune Footpath Tragedy : In a horrific incident in Pune, a drunk truck driver mowed down nine people sleeping on a footpath, tragically killing three, including two young children, and injuring six others. The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday near Kesnand Phata in Wagholi.

The accused, identified as Gajanan Shankar Totre (26), was driving a dumper truck at a high speed when he lost control and veered off the road, crashing onto the footpath where a group of people were sleeping.
The impact of the collision was devastating, leaving three individuals dead: Vishal Vinod Pawar (22), Vaibhavi Ritesh Pawar (1), and Vaibhav Ritesh Pawar (2). Six others sustained injuries, with three listed in critical condition and hospitalized at Sassoon Hospital. The injured are Janaki Dinesh Pawar (21), Rinisha Vinod Pawar (18), Roshan Shashadu Bhosale (9), Nagesh Nivrutti Pawar (27), Darshan Sanjay Vairal (18), and Alisha Vinod Pawar (47).
Eyewitnesses and police officials confirmed that Totre was drunk at the time of the accident. He has been arrested and charged with culpable homicide.
“An investigation has been ordered into the incident,” stated Senior Police Inspector Pandit Rejitwad. “The police have registered a case against the driver. Three people have lost their lives, while six others have been injured. Three of the injured are in critical condition and have been admitted to Sassoon Hospital,” he added. (Pune Footpath Tragedy)
