The PMC Commissioner is its chairman, the Medical Officer of Health is the member-secretary, and the Assistant Medical Officer of Health, legal expert, Information and Public Relations Officer, and regional medical officers are its members. However, after 23 years, the PMC has now proposed changes to the committee.
According to a senior PMC official, the proposed changes include making the additional municipal commissioner the joint chairman of the committee and including all 15 ward medical officers (WMOs) as its members. This proposal has been sent to the PMC commissioner and is likely to be approved soon. These changes will help the committee to take timely action without any errors.

Dr. Rajesh Dighe, Assistant Health Officer and head of the Anti-Bogus Doctors Committee, informed that WMOs are the officers who lodge complaints with the police department against suspected bogus doctors. WMOs also need to coordinate with lawyers and attend court during hearings. However, currently, they are not part of the committee.
According to officials, the proposed changes aim to enhance the functioning of the committee so that it can respond promptly and effectively to cases of fake practitioners. The inclusion of the additional municipal commissioner as the joint chairman will save time and reduce delays in taking action. Often, the municipal commissioner is busy with other responsibilities and is unable to attend committee meetings. Officials said that this resulted in delays in implementing the action. This proposal has been made to change it.
