PCMC takes Action: Illegal Hoardings and Flexes to come down
The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) takes action to take down illegal hoardings and flex boards across the city. In a major decision, the civic body has removed 36,000 unauthorized advertisements in a bid to uphold the city’s aesthetics and compliance with advertising laws.
PCMC officials revealed that the drive aims to curb visual pollution and ensure public spaces remain free of clutter. Teams from the civic body carried out the removal operation across key areas, targeting hoardings installed without permits.
An official from the anti-encroachment department stated, “We are committed to removing all illegal hoardings. These unauthorized structures compromise the city’s cleanliness and safety.” The operation will continue in the coming weeks, with increased surveillance to identify new violations.
The crackdown follows a surge in illegal advertisements, particularly during festival seasons and political campaigns. Fines will be imposed on individuals or organizations responsible for putting up illegal flex boards, banners, or posters.
Citizens have welcomed the move, expressing relief at the removal of visual clutter that often obstructs roads and pavements. “This step will improve the city’s appearance and prevent accidents caused by poorly installed hoardings,” said a local resident.

PCMC has urged citizens and businesses to follow proper procedures for advertising and obtain necessary approvals before installing hoardings. They have also launched a helpline for residents to report unauthorized advertisements in their neighborhoods.
With intensified action and strict monitoring, PCMC aims to establish a cleaner and more organized urban environment, setting an example for other municipalities to address illegal encroachments effectively. (PCMC takes Action)
