The health department has launched an investigation into the cause of this unusual outbreak. Water samples from the affected villages of Kalwad, Bondgaon, and Hingna in Shegaon taluka have been sent for testing, as water contamination is suspected to be a possible cause.
Dr. Deepali Bahekar, health officer of Shegaon taluka, said that a health team conducted a survey in the affected villages and found that more than 50 people had become bald in just a week. Many people have reported losing clumps of hair.
Residents of these villages complained of severe hair loss, prompting the district administration to take action. Health officials have advised the affected individuals to consult dermatologists and have initiated treatment.
While it is normal to lose 50 to 100 hairs a day, the sudden and widespread hair loss in these villages has raised concerns. The exact cause of the outbreak is yet to be determined, but water contamination is being investigated as a potential factor.
