Upon arrival, fire brigade teams initiated evacuation procedures to ensure residents’ safety. Teams from the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST), police, and ambulance services were also mobilized to assist. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, with officials examining potential electrical faults or other triggers.
Salsette 27 is a prominent residential complex in Byculla, developed by Peninsula Land Limited. The twin-tower project offers luxury 2 and 3 BHK apartments, boasting modern amenities and panoramic views of the city. The building’s design includes a partial glass façade, which contributed to the visible smoke during the incident. A resident from a lower floor recounted the swift response: “We saw smoke and immediately raised the alarm. The building’s safety systems activated, and we evacuated promptly.” Fire department officials praised the efficient evacuation and emphasized the importance of regular safety drills in high-rise buildings.
The incident led to temporary traffic disruptions on Babasaheb Ambedkar Road as emergency vehicles occupied the area. Authorities advised commuters to use alternative routes until the situation was under control.
