Mumbai : Kirit Somaiya Toilet Scam : Shiv Sena leader and MP Sanjay Raut had leveled allegations against BJP leader Kirit Somaiya and his wife Medha Somaiya over the toilet scam. In this case, Kirit Somaiya’s wife will file a claim of Rs 100 crore against Sanjay Raut.
Kirit Somaiya has said that Medha Somaiya will file a criminal defamation suit against Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut at Shivdi Court, Mumbai on May 18 at 11 am under the Indian Penal Code, 499,500 for harassing and defaming in the name of Rs 100 crore toilet scam.
Sanjay Raut has already been issued a defamation notice and a complaint has been lodged at the Mulund police station. Kirit Somaiya has alleged that Sanjay Raut has done this propaganda only to create fear and defame when there was no evidence / document of scam.
What is toilet scam?
A total of 154 public toilets were constructed in Mira Bhayander. The contract for construction of 16 toilets was awarded to Kirit Somaiya’s wife Medha Somaiya’s Youth Foundation. By submitting fake documents, the officials of Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation were deceived. She is also accused of taking toilet bills worth more than Rs 3.5 crore.
MLA Pratap Saranaik had raised this issue in the Assembly. Taking note of this, Environment Minister Aditya Thackeray had instructed the concerned department to inquire into the matter and submit a report. Therefore, the Forest Department has started inspecting the place where the toilet has been constructed. Municipal Commissioner Dilip Dhole has submitted this report to the government on March 18, 2021.
After Sanjay Raut alleged the scam, Kirit Somaiya had written letters to the Secretary, Urban Development, MMRDA, Mumbai Police, Mira Bhayander Police, Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation, Forest Department and other departments.
