New Delhi: The Election Commission on Monday granted national party status to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Along with this, the national party status of Trinamool Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Communist Party of India (CPI) was withdrawn by the Commission. On Monday, RLD in Uttar Pradesh, BRS in Andhra Pradesh, PDA in Manipur, PMK in Puducherry, The state party status given to RSP in Bengal and MPC in Mizoram was also abolished.

The Election Commission stated that the status of NCP, CPI and Trinamool Congress as national political parties stands withdrawn. The BJP, the Congress, the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI), the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), the National People’s Party (NPP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are now national parties. The commission also stated that the NCP would be recognized as state level parties in Nagaland and the Trinamool Congress in Meghalaya based on their performance in the recently concluded assembly elections.

West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar said that among the three parties TMC, CPI and NCP, CPI was the national party, TMC and NCP were regional parties. In between they tried to become a national party, especially TMC went to Goa, Assam and Meghalaya with their coal smuggling money, but they had to face defeat and now their national party status is also gone. it had to happen.

BJP National Vice President Dilip Ghosh said that the Election Commission has abolished the national status of TMC, CPI and NCP. TMC spent a lot of money across the country to maintain its national status, but they could not maintain it. It was bound to happen that no national party can be formed just by spending money.
