Nagpur: Another phase of Mumbai to Nagpur Samriddhi Mahamarg is going to start. After the completion of one route of Samriddhi Mahamarg from Shirdi to Nagpur, the way for the start of another route has been cleared. The work of 80 km Samriddhi Mahamarg from Shirdi to Bharveer has been completed. Therefore, this route will possibly start in the month of May.

Senior officials of MSRD have told that the work of 80 km road from Shirdi to Bharveer is almost completed. The 80 km long Samridhi Mahamarg from Shirdi to Bharveer will be opened in May.

The 520 km long Nagpur to Shirdi Samriddhi Mahamarg has been opened for traffic on December 2022. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has expedited work on the Shirdi to Mumbai phase. According to this, the work of 80 kilometer highway from Shirdi to Bharveer has almost been completed. Hence MSRDC is planning to open this phase for traffic. If this phase starts, then it will be possible to complete the journey from Nagpur to Nashik in five to five and a half hours.

The 520 km Nagpur-Shirdi highway has been made operational. The number of people travelling on this route has reached a record level and as a result, record toll has been collected on this route. But on the other hand, the increasing number of accidents on this highway is also a matter of concern. The speed limit has been regulated to reduce the number of accidents. One can travel on this highway at a speed of 120 kmph. Therefore it is possible to cover the distance from Nagpur to Shirdi in just five hours. Due to this, the number of people travelling on this route has also increased. Along with this, there has been a huge increase in the number of accidents on the Samruddhi Mahamarg. Therefore, a major decision has been taken to prevent accidents. Now cars with bad tires will not be allowed to enter. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Regional Transport Authority has launched an inspection campaign to prevent accidents on the highway.
