Pune: The temperature in many other cities including Pune has gone up to 40 degrees. On the other hand, the crisis of unseasonal rains continues in the state. The Mumbai Meteorological Department has predicted that there will be unseasonal rain in the state for the next four days. Meanwhile, the state government has also taken a big decision to provide relief to the farmers due to continuous rains. Due to the unseasonal rains in the month of March, the farmers suffered huge losses. Their Panchnama is still not completed.

For the first time since February, the temperature of Pune district has crossed 40 degrees in April. The highest temperature in the state is 40.4 in Chandrapur. After that, the highest temperature was recorded in Shirur at 40.2 degrees. On Wednesday, the average maximum temperature of the entire Pune district was between 37 and 40 degrees.

The humidity has increased in the state. This has resulted into the rise in the temperature. Cloudy weather had formed in Pune on Wednesday. It also rained in some places. Meanwhile, the weather department has warned of unseasonal rain in the entire Pune district and many parts of the state for the next four days.

A decision was taken in the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday that “persistent rain” should be declared a natural disaster by the state government and aid should be provided for the damage to the agricultural crops. The state government has declared ‘Heavy rain’ as a calamity, and if there is more than 65 mm of rain in 24 hours in the automatic weather station provided in the revenue board, panchnamas of damage to agricultural crops are made in all the villages of the board. If the loss of agricultural crops is more than 33 percent, assistance is given to farmers in the form of input subsidy at a prescribed rate for the area affected.

However, even though there is no record of heavy rainfall in the revenue circle, heavy rains may occur in the villages of the circle and cause damage to agricultural crops. Also, due to continuous rains in some villages for a few consecutive days, agricultural crops may be damaged. In such cases it is necessary to give help to the farmers.
