New Delhi: The Uddhav faction has not yet got any relief from the Supreme Court (SC). A hearing was held in the SC on Wednesday on the name and election symbol of the Shiv Sena party. Upper court has upheld the decision of the Election Commission for the time being and has issued a notice to all the parties in this regard.

SC refused to stay the order of the Election Commission, which considered the Shinde camp as the real Shiv Sena. It said that the election symbol of torch and Mashaal which was given to the Uddhav faction by the EC can continue in the future as well.

On the petition of Uddhav Thackeray against the decision of the Election Commission, SC said that it will consider the petition and issue a notice. Due to the absence of an immediate and final decision from the SC, both the Shiv Sena name and the party’s bow and arrow symbol will remain with the Shinde faction. Eknath Shinde’s lawyer objecting to Uddhav Thackeray’s petition, said that it is not worthy of consideration.

Now the matter will be heard after two weeks. Thackeray faction’s lawyer Kapil Sibal read out the decision of the Central Election Commission in the SC. Then Neeraj Kaul argued on behalf of the Shinde faction. The Thackeray faction has claimed in the petition that the decision of the Election Commission regarding the party’s name and bow and arrow is wrong. The petition was heard before a separate bench on Wednesday. The SC will issue notice to the Central Election Commission and the Shinde faction. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal is representing the Thackeray faction in the Supreme Court.
