Mumbai: Lots of suspense remains in the politics of Maharashtra. There is some speculation that NCP leader Ajit Pawar is considering switching sides again. Although he has not said anything on such claims, but some BJP leaders have praised Ajit Pawar. At the same time, Ajit Pawar said that NCP should not wait for 2024 for his post of Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

He said that the NCP can still claim the post of Chief Minister of Maharashtra without waiting for the state assembly elections to be held in 2024. The Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly said in an interview that he would 100 per cent become the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. He also said that he had already heard before the rebellion in Shiv Sena in June 2022 that the present Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was unhappy and something was going on in his mind.

Ajit Pawar was speaking at a media program in Pune. During this, he said that in 2004, when the NCP had won more seats than its alliance partner Congress, then his colleague late R. R. Patil could have become the Chief Minister, but a message came from Delhi that NCP would get the Deputy Chief Minister’s post.

When Ajit Pawar was asked during the rapid fire round of the program that he has served as Deputy CM several times and whether he would like to become the Chief Minister. To this, Pawar quickly replied, “Yes, I would 100 per cent want to be the chief minister.”

Ajit Pawar said that his colleague Patil was elected Leader of the House and would have become the Chief Minister in 2004 if the top post had gone to the NCP. Pawar said, in the subsequent assembly elections, the Congress got more seats than the NCP, so it naturally retained the chief minister’s post.
