Nawab Malik’s judicial custody extended by 14 days

Mumbai: Former minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik’s judicial custody has been extended by 14 days. Malik was arrested by the ED in February last year in a money laundering case related to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. His bail application was heard on Wednesday. The court extended his remand for 14 days.

Since his arrest in February last year, Malik has filed several applications for bail. But, he did not get bail from the court. On Wednesday also, the court has extended his custody for 14 days.

In November 2021, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis made serious allegations against Nawab Malik. Fadnavis had said that Malik’s company had bought land from those accused in the 1993 Mumbai blasts. This land belongs to Dawood Ibrahim. It has also been alleged that Malik has links with the underworld. After that, the ED has also registered a case against Malik in the money laundering case and has seized his property worth crores.

  • ED seized the land of Goa-wala complex in Kurla.
  • ED seizes a commercial premises in Kurla West.
  • Malik’s 148 acres of land seized in Osmanabad.
  • 3 flats in Kurla West.
  • ED has also seized 2 residential houses in Bandra West.

Malik’s lawyers had said during the last hearing that one kidney of Nawab Malik has failed. Nawab Malik is admitted to Criti Care Hospital in Kurla for the last several months. Anil Desai also told the High Court that he wanted to start treatment for kidney transplant in another big hospital.
