Maharashtra-Karnataka Border Dispute: Karnataka Govt will pay Rs 60L fee per day to legal team

Mumbai: The Maharashtra-Karnataka dispute has been going on for the past five decades. There have been many violent protests in the border areas including Maharashtra on this issue. A court battle is also going on between the two states over this dispute.

MPs from many parties in Maharashtra had demanded that the Center resolve the border dispute. After that, to put a curtain on this controversy, Amit Shah has temporarily cooled this controversy by discussing border issues with Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka government has fixed a professional fee of around Rs 60 lakh per day for a team of senior lawyers including Mukul Rohatgi to present Karnataka’s case in the Supreme Court.

Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi will be paid Rs 22 lakh per day for appearing in the Supreme Court and Rs 5.5 lakh per day for conferences and other work.

While Assistant Advocate Shyam Dewan will be paid Rs 6 lakh per day for court attendance, Rs 1.5 lakh for trial preparation and other work and Rs 10 lakh per day for outside travel.

The Karnataka government will also bear the cost of hotel facilities and air travel.
