GST racket busted in Mumbai, fake bills worth 41 crores seized, one arrested

Mumbai: The team of CGST’s Bhiwandi Commissionerate in Mumbai has busted a big gang making claims on the basis of fake bills to get input tax credit. Initially, ITC of 18 crores has been detected on the basis of fake bills of 41 crores. The accused of a firm has been arrested in the case.

CGST Bhiwandi Commissioner Sumit Kumar said that this gang was busy taking advantage of input tax credit through fake GST challans. A firm linked to this gang had availed ITC of Rs 2.57 crore through bogus bills of Rs 14.30 crore. The owner of the firm was arrested as soon as the matter came to the fore. The name of the firm whose operative has been arrested is M/s Vishwakarma Enterprises. He availed ITC of Rs 2.57 crore on fake invoices of Rs 14.30 crore.

The accused has been arrested under section 69 of CGST Act, 2017 for violation of section 132 of CGST Act, 2017. He was released on bail by the Bhiwandi CGST commissioner. The case is part of a special drive launched by CGST Mumbai Zone against tax fraudsters and fake ITC network. This is the 15th case of arrest made by CGST Bhiwandi in the last one year. Further investigation is on.
