Pune: Renowned actress and theater artist Uttara Baokar(79) passed away after prolonged illness. Baokar was ill for the last one year. She breathed her last at a hospital in Pune. Sources close to her family said that her last rites were performed on Wednesday morning. She took acting lessons from Delhi’s National School of Drama.
Baokar played Padmavati in ‘Mukhyamantri’, Mena in ‘Mena Gurjari’, Desdemona in Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’ and the role of a mother in Girish Karnad’s play ‘Tughlaq’. She came into limelight after her role in Govind Nihalani’s film Tamas.
