Eknath Shinde wins trust vote, Gets support of 164 MLAs

Mumbai : The Shinde-Fadnavis government has won the floor test battle in the Assembly. Eknath Shinde has passed the test by proving a majority in the House with 164 votes. Yesterday, the government got its first victory by winning the election for the post of Assembly Speaker. But today was their real test. After the legislature resumed its work at 11 a.m. today, the majority test was passed. In this, 164 votes were cast in favor of Shinde’s proposal. 99 votes were cast against this proposal. Yesterday, 107 votes were cast against the proposal to elect the Speaker of the Assembly. With these, the Eknath Shinde government has won a vote of confidence. At the time of today’s proposal, three MLAs from MIM and Samajwadi Party remained neutral.

Earlier, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena had suffered two major setbacks. Shiv Sena rebel leader Eknath Shinde had formed a government with BJP with 50 MLAs. Today, the group also got MLA Santosh Bangar. Yesterday, Santosh Bangar had voted against the Assembly Speaker’s election. Today, Bangar voted for Shinde.

On June 30, Eknath Shinde was sworn in as the Chief Minister and Devendra Fadnavis of the BJP was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister. After that, they had to face the majority test today. Meanwhile, Rahul Narvekar was elected as the Speaker of the Assembly in yesterday’s election. Narvekar got 164 votes while his opponent Rajan Salvi got 107 votes.
