Mumbai : The problems of all the people living in Rana couple’s building have increased. The Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has given notices to all the houses in the nine-storey building to investigate illegal construction. This time the BMC has not sent a notice to the Rana couple’s house on the 8th floor as they have already been given a notice to move out claiming 10 illegal constructions. At present, the court has directed the Rana couple to appeal to the BMC to legalize the illegal construction.

All residents of the Rana couple’s building were served notices on Thursday under section 488 of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, 1888, which allows BMC officials to enter the premises for inspection, survey or execution of essential work. Notices have been issued to all the flats of the nine-storey building.

At the same time, in this case, a BMC official said that in the last few years, apart from Rana, notices have already been given to other flats of the society and the matter is in court. Now we have given fresh notices to inspect whether any other irregularities have come to the fore in these flats. Once the inspection report is complete, we can submit the details to the court. Let us tell you that on May 2, the BMC had given notice to the Rana couple for illegal construction in the house and later threatened to take action, claiming 10 illegal constructions.
