Cities like Pune, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalgaon, Parbhani, and many other parts of Maharashtra have recorded temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius. Many areas have witnessed dense fog and severe cold in the early morning.
Where is unseasonal rain expected?
Due to fluctuating temperatures in recent days, conditions have become conducive for rain in the state. The IMD has forecast unseasonal rains in northern Konkan, Marathwada, and northern Maharashtra. Minimum temperatures are expected to rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius in the next two days.
According to the IMD, a western disturbance is causing changes in weather conditions. A cyclonic circulation has formed over south-east Iran and adjoining areas. As a result, a low-pressure area has formed over southwest Rajasthan. This is likely to cause convergence of western and eastern winds. Consequently, the current cold wave in Maharashtra is expected to subside. The IMD has forecast a rise of 2-3 degrees Celsius in minimum temperatures.
However, Vidarbha is expected to remain dry for the next five days with the cold wave persisting. The IMD has issued a rain forecast for January 10th and 11th and advised farmers to take necessary precautions for their crops. Except for Vidarbha, temperatures in the rest of the state are expected to rise after two days with light to moderate rain.
