Allocates Health and Transport Department to Shiv Sena and Finance to NCP
Nagpur : Maharashtra Cabinet Expansion 2024 : Maharashtra is set to expand the Devendra Fadnavis cabinet today. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for 4 PM, where 39 legislators are expected to take the ministerial oath. Meanwhile, sources revealed that the Home Department, which the Shiv Sena had been eyeing, will remain with the BJP.
The BJP, which emerged as the largest party in the state elections, has retained control of the Home, Revenue, Irrigation, and Education departments. However, it remains unclear who will be responsible for these ministries.
Nagpur has been chosen for the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis‘s cabinet expansion, with the stage prepared and other arrangements underway. It is reported that 20 legislators will become ministers from the BJP’s quota, though the party might keep some ministerial positions vacant. Additionally, there is a likelihood of 13 legislators from the Shiv Sena’s quota and 10 from the NCP’s quota taking the oath.

Regarding the allocation for NCP and Shiv Sena, sources indicate that the Shiv Sena is likely to be given responsibility for Urban Development, Housing, Industry, Health, Transport, Tourism, IT, Marathi Language, and MSRDC departments. The NCP is set to receive the Finance, Cooperation, and Sports departments. However, the specific individuals who will be assigned these ministerial responsibilities from both parties are not yet clear.
Beyond these, the BJP has retained control of Home, Revenue, Electricity, Higher and Technical Education, Medical Education, and Irrigation departments.
