Parenting Tips | How to save child if he swallows coin

Mumbai : Parenting Tips – A child up to three years of age after birth puts anything he can grasp into his mouth. When they see any colourful thing, they first try to identify it by putting it in their mouth. Although this is a normal action, sometimes children swallow these things by taking it in their mouth. Coins and plastic are the most common of these things.

If the coin stuck in the child’s throat and it is not removed in time, then the child’s life can also be in danger. This is because in most of the cases these coins get stuck in the food pipe of children but if this coin gets stuck in the child’s respiratory tract then immediate treatment becomes necessary. In such a situation, parents should be patient and try these tips to bring out the swallowed object.

Follow these tips to remove coin stuck in the throat of the child –

• First of all, rush to the doctor. But on your way to doctor, to remove the coin stuck in the throat of the child, first of all, tilt the child forward. Now press his chest with one hand and with the other hand pat on his back 5 to 6 times. Repeat this process 2 to 3 times. This will form a phlegm in his chest and the swallowed coin will come out.
• If the coin is stuck in the throat, hold the upper part of the child’s stomach tightly with both hands and keep applying pressure with a jerk. Due to this, if the chest breath not going down, will go up and the coin will come out.
• When a coin gets stuck in the throat, a strong cough starts. In this case, ask the child to cough till the phlegm is formed. The swallowed object will also come out along with the phlegm.
• In this situation, if the child sneezes, it can also prove to be better because due to sneezing, the stuff stuck in the windpipe comes out.
• If your child is able to understand your words, then ask him to cough. Keep doing this until the phlegm is formed, because the stuff stuck in the windpipe can come out along with the phlegm.
• If the coin is not coming out and the child starts turning blue, then take him to the doctor immediately.
