Kothrud Gang Attack: A 22-year-old man was brutally murdered in Kothrud late Sunday night. The victim, identified as Gaurav Avinash Thorat, was attacked near Datta Mandir in Shastri Nagar. Thorat succumbed to injuries inflicted by a gang wielding swords and firearms. (Kothrud Gang Attack)

The incident took place around midnight when Thorat was with his friends. He was targeted by a group of approximately ten individuals. According to police reports, accused Sohel Sayyad, allegedly stemming from a prior dispute, fired the gunshot at Thorat. When the initial shot missed, the gang launched a vicious assault with swords and other sharp weapons. It caused fatal injuries to Thorat’s neck, head, abdomen, and legs.
After the incident, Thorat was pronounced dead at the scene. Kothrud Police have registered a case against Dinesh Bhalerao (27), Sohel Sayyad (24), Rakesh Sawant (24), Sahil Wakade (25), Bandya Nagtilak (18), Lakhan Shirole (27), Aniket Umap (22), and other unidentified individuals. The complaint was filed by Sagar Vasant Kasbe (47).

A police official from Kothrud Police Station stated, “The investigation is ongoing in this matter. We are actively pursuing all leads to arrest the suspects involved in this heinous crime.”
