New Delhi : Complaints are being received about the Unified Payment Interface (UPI) service being down across the country. Users tagging @UPI_NPCI have asked if UPI services have stopped. Meanwhile, some other users have also complained to banks about the closure of UPI.

However, till now a statement has not been issued by the government and payment services regarding this. Let us tell you that users took to Twitter to complain about non-transaction through major UPI apps like Phone-pay, Google-pay and Paytm. People faced trouble in making payments or transferring money.

This is the third time this has happened this year. Earlier in April and January, UPI’s server was down. NPCI has not yet issued a formal tweet or statement regarding this. Unified Payments Interface is a real-time payment system operated by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). UPI currently accounts for more than 60 per cent of India’s retail transactions.

These payment systems handle large volumes of transactions. Most of which are low-value transactions. Transactions below Rs 100 account for 75 per cent of the UPI volume.
