New Delhi: India is presiding over the G20 presidency this time and is leaving no stone unturned to make it grand. In this episode, India has fixed the date of G-20 meeting in Srinagar. After this Pakistan has condemned India’s move on Tuesday and termed it disappointing.

India assumed the year-long chairmanship of the G20 in December last year. India said that the working group meeting on tourism will be held in Srinagar from May 22 to 24. Pakistan said that this is a violation of the principles of international law. It is an irresponsible move by India to maintain its illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistan said that such events are wrong at a place which has been on the agenda of the UNSC for more than seven decades. Jammu and Kashmir is a contentious issue whose stand is still unclear. Pakistan further said that by choosing to host G20 events in Jammu and Kashmir, India is fuelling its agenda and taking advantage of its membership of an important international grouping.

According to reports, preparations for the meeting to be held in Srinagar had started last year itself. It is important to note that G-20 meetings are being organized in all 28 states and 8 union territories. Keeping this in view, meetings are also going to be held in Arunachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. China and Pakistan both had objected to this.
