New Delhi: Bangladeshi villagers have attacked Border Security Force (BSF) personnel deployed to protect Indian farmers on the international border. 2 jawans were seriously injured in this attack. The incident took place on Sunday in the area of Nirmalchar Post 35 Battalion in Berhampur Sector of Bengal Frontier. After this attack, the assailants snatched the jawans’ guns and fled to Bangladesh.

The BSF has raised the issue with the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) to prevent the seizure of jawans’ weapons by Bangladeshi goons, and to prevent recurrence of such incidents. A flag meeting has also been called in this matter.

Indian farmers in Behrampur area complained that Bangladeshi farmers were destroying their crops. Therefore, the Border Security Force had established a temporary post in this area for their security.

This part of Nirmalchar is very remote. Despite the lack of infrastructure, BSF personnel keep a watchful eye on this area day and night.

According to reports in this regard, jawans were on duty at the border post on Sunday. At that time Bangladeshi farmers stopped them. After that, more than 100 Bangladeshi goons who came from Bangladesh mixed with these farmers and attacked the Indian soldiers with sticks and sharp weapons.

BSF has lodged an FIR against unidentified Bangladeshi attackers in Ranitala Thane of Murshidabad.

A South Bengal Frontier spokesperson said that when smugglers and criminals cannot carry out their illegal activities across the border, they attack the jawans. They have attacked jawans in the past too.
