Mausam App launched for farmers for location-specific forecast and warning

Pune: For the past few years, climate change, drought, increase in temperature, hailstorm, heavy rain, cyclones, unseasonal rain are causing huge losses to the farmers every year. Therefore, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has developed the Mausam app for farmers for location-specific forecast and warning. This app will provide instant information about the changes in weather and it’ll help farmers plan their crops accordingly.

Through this app, the farmers will be able to get weather updates, weather forecasts and warnings of severe weather events. And it’ll help them plan the agriculture.

How to download this app –
This app can be downloaded from google play store. It can be identified by the logo of IMD. The information is available in most local languages of the country including Marathi. Using this app, farmers will get information like temperature, humidity, wind direction, speed, rainfall, sunrise, sunset. Also, up to 8 times a day, farmers will get updated information about cloud position captured by nearby radar. Apart from this, severe weather events like heavy rains, hailstorms expected in the next few hours will be informed through this app.

This app will provide weather forecast of 24-hours to seven-days for 450 cities. Warnings of severe weather events for the next five days for all districts will be issued twice a day through this app. And accordingly, the farmers can take necessary precautions by checking weather forecast through this app.
