Mumbai: Sharad Pawar on Hindenburg report: There was a lot of uproar in the budget session of Parliament regarding the Adani issue. The opposition parties remained adamant on the demand of the Joint Parliamentary Committee i.e. JPC, but the government did not listen to them and finally the session ended. Now the statement of NCP President Sharad Pawar, one of the major opposition parties, has come to the fore in this whole matter.

In an interview, Sharad Pawar called the opposition’s demand for JPC unnecessary. He said that it is known to everyone that the government will have majority in the JPC, in such a situation the parliamentary committee can never conduct an impartial inquiry into the matter. For this, the best option is the Supreme Court.

Pawar said that the Supreme Court formed a committee. It had retired judges, an expert, an administrator and an economist. It was given a time frame in which it was asked to investigate. On the other hand, the opposition wanted the JPC to probe it. Even if JPC was formed, it would have worked under the supervision of the government. How would the truth come out in such a situation? One thing is clear that when the Supreme Court had formed the committee, there was no need for this demand.

Pawar further said that I do not know what was the intention of the Congress behind this demand. I just knew that the Supreme Court committee was very important. He also made it clear that he does not agree with the way Rahul Gandhi targets big business houses.

Ambani has contribution in many sectors- Pawar
Pawar said that the people you are targeting (businessmen like Adani-Ambani), if they have done something wrong, then you have 100 percent right to speak. But I do not understand attacking them without any reason. Today Ambani is contributing in many fields including petrochemicals, electricity. Doesn’t the country need all these things? These are people who take such responsibility and work for it. If they have done wrong then you attack him, but he has created this infrastructure, I do not think it right to criticize.

On the Hindenburg report, he said that the opposition has given too much importance to the report of a firm. Neither the background address of this firm nor its name was heard by anyone before Adani issue. Looking at the whole matter, it seems that only intention was to target an industrial group.
