New Delhi: The firing incident took place inside the Bathinda Military Station in Punjab at around 04:35 am on Wednesday. Four soldiers have died in this incident. Station Quick Reaction Teams were activated. The entire area was cordoned off and sealed. Search operation is on. All entry gates of Army Cantonment in Bathinda have been closed. Monitoring is being done by helicopter and drone.
The Punjab Police, which reached the spot after the said incident, were stopped outside the cantonment and were told that the army’s search operation was going on. Sources said that the army officials have advised the people living in the houses inside the cantonment not to come out of the houses.
Two days back, an INSAS rifle was stolen from the guard room of Bathinda Military Station. Today’s incident is being linked to that. Official confirmation is awaited.
