New Delhi: Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has extended the deadline for applying for higher pension till June 26. EPFO said in a statement released on Tuesday evening that the deadline ending on May 3 has been extended to June 26, 2023. So now, eligible employees will be able to submit their application online till June 26 to get more pension.
EPFO had asked the existing shareholders and retired employees to apply online by May 3, 2023, following an important decision of the Supreme Court on November 4, 2022 regarding pension. In this important decision, the court had said that EPFO should give an opportunity to its existing and former subscribers to opt for higher pension. Some conditions and arrangements were also kept for this.
However, several representatives of employee organizations requested EPFO to extend the deadline. Keeping this in mind, it has been decided to extend the deadline for applying online for higher pension till June 26. EPFO said that the deadline has been extended after due consideration of the demands received from the employees, employers and their organisations. With this, pensioners and existing shareholders will get enough time to apply.
