Cyclone Mocha: IMD issues alert for heavy rain and storm

New Delhi: Cyclone Mocha: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Thursday that Cyclone Mocha in the Bay of Bengal, is taking a dangerous form. According to the information, it is expected to turn into a severe storm by midnight over the central Bay of Bengal tonight. The weather forecasting agency has tweeted that the cyclonic storm was 510 km southwest of Port Blair at 8.30 am. This storm is expected to take the form of a severe cyclonic storm tonight.

Cyclonic storm ‘Mocha’ is expected to knock on the Bangladesh-Myanmar border by Sunday. At the same time, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) issued a statement saying that its units are on high alert. To reduce the cyclone’s potential, teams of the National Disaster Response Force reached Digha in West Bengal in the evening.

IMD has predicted heavy rains in many parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the next three days. According to this, heavy rains are expected at different places in Tripura and Mizoram on Saturday and Sunday, while in Nagaland-Manipur and South Assam, there is a possibility of heavy rains on Sunday. Talking about Kerala and Mahe, according to IMD, heavy rains with strong winds are expected in the next five days.

Heatwave likely to continue in Andhra Pradesh and Yanam from May 13-15
On the other hand, heavy rains have been expected in coastal areas like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Karaikal and Puducherry tomorrow i.e. on Friday as well. Talking about Gujarat, East Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim and some parts of Northeast India, according to IMD, the temperature here has been recorded between 4-5 degree Celsius. According to IMD in Konkan and Odisha, high temperature is going to increase the problems of the people. While there is a possibility of heatwave in some areas of Rajasthan and in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam till May 13-15.
