Cyclone Asani changes direction, May bring rainfall in some parts of Maharashtra

Mumbai : The low pressure belt formed in the Bay of Bengal has created Asani Cyclone. The cyclone has now changed its direction and is heading towards Andhra Pradesh. The meteorological department has issued red alerts to three districts in Andhra Pradesh. Meanwhile, the meteorological department has forecast that the effects of the cyclone will be felt in some parts of Maharashtra.

Hurricane Asani is expected to hit the coastal areas of Kakinada and Visakhapatnam on Wednesday morning, the meteorological department said. During this time, strong winds can blow at speeds of up to 100 kmph, causing torrential rains. Three districts in Andhra Pradesh, East Godavari, West Godavari and Yanam, have been declared red alert. The cyclone is rapidly moving towards Andhra Pradesh. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected during this period. This situation is expected to continue till May 12.

 

What will be its effect on Maharashtra?
The effect of Asani Cyclone affecting Maharashtra is likely to be felt in Konkan, Central Maharashtra and Marathwada. The weather will be cloudy in this area. The meteorological department has also predicted that the cyclone will reach Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur and Sangli.

Central Maharashtra – Scattered showers, heat waves in North Central Maharashtra.

According to the meteorological department, the cyclone has been moving at a speed of 12 km per hour for the last six hours. It is expected to hit the Andhra Pradesh coast in the Midwest via the Bay of North West Bengal on Wednesday morning. The storm then changed its course and hit coastal areas of Machilipatnam, Narsapur, Yanam, Kakanida, Tuni and Visakhapatnam.
