New Delhi: Former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik has been summoned by the CBI for questioning. This summon of CBI has been sent to Satyapal Malik in the case related to Insurance Scam. This information was given by quoting the officials. The former governor said, ‘CBI has asked me to come to their Delhi office on April 27 or 28 to give clarification regarding the alleged insurance scam in Jammu and Kashmir.

Malik said, ‘They want some clarification, for which they want my presence. I am going to Rajasthan, so I have given them the date of April 27 to 29.’ He was also questioned by the CBI last year in connection with the alleged scam. The central agency had registered two FIRs in connection with Malik’s allegations of corruption in the award of contracts for a group medical insurance scheme for government employees and in construction work involving the Rs 2,200-crore Kiru hydroelectric project in Jammu and Kashmir.

Malik had claimed that he was offered a bribe of Rs 300 crore to clear two files during his tenure as the governor of Jammu and Kashmir between August 23, 2018 and October 30, 2019. The agency had named Reliance General Insurance and Trinity Re-insurance Brokers Ltd as accused in the FIR related to the controversial health insurance scheme.

According to reports, Malik had approved the plan in a meeting of the state’s administrative council on August 31, 2018. Later the plan was terminated. An FIR alleges, ‘Unknown officers of the Finance Department of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, misusing their official position, hatched criminal conspiracy and committed criminal misconduct in connivance with Trinity Re-insurance Brokers Limited, Reliance General Insurance Company Limited and certain unknown public servants and private persons.’

The second FIR pertains to alleged irregularities in the award of civil works contracts for the Keeru Hydroelectric Project. CBI alleges that guidelines related to e-tender were not followed.
