Ahmedabad : The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is preparing for ‘BJP Mission 150’ for upcoming Gujarat assembly elections. BJP is emphasizing on micro management on every seat. The strategy planning is on keeping in mind the influential sections such as Patidars (Patels), OBCs, Adivasis. Out of the total 182 seats in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, 40 OBC castes have influence over 48.

The BJP has hired the OBC Morcha to woo the voters in these seats. In the last three months, the Morcha has met leaders of 40 OBC castes. Different programs have been organized for OBC category in 33 districts of the state. With the elections approaching, the party has made the OBC Morcha more active. Religious and community leaders of OBC castes are being constantly contacted.

Along with OBC Morcha, state president CR Patil himself is also focusing on these 40 castes. He himself is also contacting the local leaders under the ‘Ek Din-Ek Zilla’ program. There are plans to get these leaders to meet the Chief Minister soon.

There are about 40 castes in Gujarat among the OBCs. Thakor Samaj, Choudhary Samaj, Panchal Samaj, Rabari Samaj have more influence in North Gujarat then Kutch, Saurashtra has the effect of Ahir Samaj, Mer Samaj, Desai Samaj etc. The BJP, which has been in power for two and a half years, had to face a tough challenge from the Congress in the last elections, so this time the Aam Aadmi Party has made the fight triangular.
