Prayagraj: Shaista Parveen, wife of Atiq Ahmed, has been declared a mafia by the UP police in a fresh FIR. Police is looking for Shaista. Shaista is an accused in the Umesh Pal murder case. The UP police is continuously conducting raids to arrest Shaista, but till now she is out of the grip of the police.
Atiq-Ashraf killed on 15th April, Asad’s encounter on 13th
Atiq and his younger brother Ashraf, accused in the Umesh Pal murder case, were shot dead by three assailants at the gate of a government hospital in Prayagraj on April 15. Atiq-Ashraf were murdered when the police was taking both of them for medical examination. Earlier, the police had killed Asad and Ghulam, accused in the Umesh Pal murder case, in a Jhansi encounter on 13 April.
Prayagraj Police has now registered a case against Atin Jafar, a local, for allegedly giving shelter to Shaista Parveen, wife of mafia Atiq Ahmed, and another accused, Sabir. Both are wanted in connection with the murder of Umesh Pal and his two shooters. Umesh Pal was shot dead on February 24 in Dhumanganj area of Prayagraj. Umesh Pal was the main witness in the Raju Pal murder case.
Police had detained Mohammad Atin Jafar during the raid on Tuesday who was released after questioning. Police said Jafar had allegedly given shelter to Shaista and Sabir at his residence in Khuldabad area on April 15, a day after Atiq’s murder. There is a reward of five lakh rupees on Sabir in the Umesh Pal murder case.
Police said that during interrogation, Jafar admitted that Shaista and Sabir had stayed at his residence in Khuldabad area of Prayagraj on April 16 and had left for an undisclosed location the next day. According to the police, Jafar also told them that Shaista and Sabir had planned to attend Ateeq’s funeral but changed their plans at the last moment as there was heavy police presence at the funeral.
