Amravati: The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) will allot housing plots to 48,218 people belonging to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) of Krishna and Guntur districts.

An official release issued in this regard said that these plots, spread over six villages and 1135 acres, would be given to people who do not have houses in Mandadam, Inavolu, Krishnayapalem, Navuluru, Kuragallu and Nidamanuru. It said that the state government has amended the CRDA Act to facilitate allotment of houses to the poor.

As per the relevant sections of the CRDA Act, the government has created ‘R5’ zone and has taken various lands under its jurisdiction. The southern state has issued a gazette notification to this effect after considering objections and suggestions, including holding an interaction with the public in October. It added that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the District Magistrates of Krishna and Guntur to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) along with the list of beneficiaries and submit it to the CRDA.

According to the government, the beneficiaries of these plots will receive house pattas (documents) in the third phase of the ‘Navratnalu Housing for the Poor’ programme, in line with the mandate issued recently to allot plots to the poor in Amaravati.

Meanwhile, Reddy directed the officials to prepare an action plan to create infrastructure for construction of houses. He directed to expedite the processes so that the work could start in the first week of May.
