Bus driver Janardan Hambardikar has confessed during interrogation that he had set the bus on fire on Wednesday morning. The driver has given a statement that due to a dispute between workers and anger over the employer’s salary cut during Diwali, he carried out this conspiracy. The incident has took lives of four people.
The driver had jumped out of the bus immediately after setting the fire. The minibus hit a two-wheeler, only when the other passengers came to know about the fire. The passengers sitting on the front had come out of of the bus immediately. But the others sitting behind stuck inside as the door couldn’t be opened. Four died on the spot in this incident and the injured were rushed to a private hospital. The incident occurred at around 8’o clock on Wednesday morning.
The accused driver Janardan Hambardikar had brought a chemical called benzene from the company in the car the previous day. He also kept rags used to wipe toner in the car. When he approached Hinjewadi, he lit a matchstick and set the rags on fire, and the chemical caused a huge fire in the bus. The information has been given by Deputy Commissioner of Police Vishal Gaikwad in a press conference.
