The highest number of Guillain-Barré Syndrome cases have been observed in the Singhad Road and nearby localities. There are growing concerns about the water sources, particularly wells and other water bodies in the region, which may be contributing to the outbreak.
Pune Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale, along with other officials, recently inspected the wells in Nanded Village to assess the situation. In response to requests from local residents, protective fencing will be installed around these wells, and regular water quality testing will be conducted as per the commissioner’s instructions.
Primary Symptoms of Guillain-Barré Syndrome:
– Weakness in arms and legs
– Difficulty walking or sudden loss of mobility
– Persistent diarrhea for several days
Government Actions and Measures:
The health authorities are closely monitoring the situation and conducting surveys in the affected areas. Water samples are being tested in the hotspots, and in some locations, it has been found that wastewater is pooling near water supply pipelines. Consequently, orders have been issued to remove stagnant water and, where necessary, install new sewage systems to prevent further contamination. (Guillain-Barré Syndrome Cases Pune)
