Pune : Travelers flying between Pune and Chennai faced disruptions due to the closure of Chennai Airport on Saturday. The closure is a precautionary measure in response to the approaching Cyclone Fengal and worsening weather conditions.
IndiGo Cancels Flights, Air India Express Waits for Update –
IndiGo, a major airline operating on this route, has confirmed the cancellation of all arrival and departure flights at Chennai Airport. This prioritizes passenger and crew safety during the storm. Six IndiGo flights scheduled for departure from Chennai to Pune on Saturday have been grounded. These flights include 6E 253, 6E 916, 6E 236, 6E 502, 6E 561, and 6E 183.
The impact extends to flights departing Pune as well. IndiGo flight 6E 625, scheduled to leave for Chennai at 10:05 am on Saturday, has been cancelled.
Air India Express flight IX 2660, departing Pune for Chennai at 11:15 pm, remains tentatively on schedule. However, airline staff warn that weather conditions could lead to last-minute changes. They expect to provide a definitive update by 5 pm.
