Pimpri-Chinchwad. Complaints are increasing about vehicle owners not receiving RC books due to incomplete addresses. Approximately 12,000 to 13,000 RCs are returned to the RTO every year. Therefore, RTO officers have issued instructions to employees to ensure vehicle owners receive their RC books on time. Similarly, the Pimpri-Chinchwad RTO office has also requested citizens to provide complete addresses. This step has been taken to reduce pending RC book applications.

In the Pimpri Chinchwad Regional Transport Department (RTO), 1,200 vehicle drivers have changed their address on their vehicle registration certificate (RC book) in seven months. These have become difficult to trace. A new RC book is issued while purchasing a new vehicle. Previously, the RC book was obtained from the dealer after purchasing the vehicle. However, the RTO department has stopped issuing paper RC books and vehicle licenses since 2006. Smart cards have replaced them.

Meanwhile, 12 to 13 thousand RCs are returned annually. The main reason is inability to locate the address. These are distributed by the concerned department via postal service. However, due to partial or untraceable addresses, they reappear in the post. The postman waits a few days and then sends them back to the RTO office.
