Cloudburst in J&K: Jammu and Kashmir is facing a terrible natural disaster. Continuous heavy rains have disrupted normal life. Ramban disrict is one of the most affected areas. Many areas have flood-like conditions. Constant rains and frequent landslides have worsened the situation. People are feared and feeling distressed due to the natural condition. Over 100 people were rescued after heavy rains which caused flash floods in a village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district in the wee hours of Sunday. (Cloudburst in J&K)

Speaking about the current situation, officials said that landslides and mudslides occurred at about a dozen places between Nashri and Banihal on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44). Traffic had to be stopped due to continuous rain which can further cause landslides. Officials said that three people died due to cloudburst in Seri Bagna village of Ramban. Officials said that around 40 residential houses were damaged due to the flash flood in Dharam Kund village. Despite continuous rain and cloudburst, police rescued more than 100 stranded villagers.
Many vehicles were swept away in the floods. Drain are overflowing due to continuous rains. Vehicular movement on both sides of Jammu-Srinagar national highway has been stopped sighting the risk of landslides. Rains are continuing on the highway and passengers have been advised not to travel on the main road till the weather improves and the road is cleared.
Water has entered many houses, forcing people to move to safer places. Especially children, old age and sick people are most at risk. Although the administration has started relief and rescue operations, bad weather and inaccessible terrain are posing major challenges to their efforts.
