Mumbai: After the fall in the American stock market, now Asian markets, including India has also seen a downfall. The BSE Sensex touched an intra-day low of 58884.98 today, while the Nifty also touched a low of 17324 and is trading at 17408. Markets in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo and Seoul fell as US stocks fell. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng fell by 2.45 percent, South Korea’s Kospi by 1.21 percent, Shanghai by 1.15 percent, Japan’s Nikkei by 1.36 percent.

US Fed Chairman Jerome Powell said earlier this week that the central bank may raise interest rates more than previously thought. After the speech, some experts also said that the rate is likely to reach 6%. Powell said that while inflation has softened in recent months, getting it back to 2% is still a long process and the road is likely to be difficult.

In fact, on Thursday, Wall Street’s main sensitive index, the Dow Jones, fell 543 points to close at 32,254. At the same time, the S&P 500 recorded a 1.85 percent decline. The Nasdaq closed down at 2.05 percent, or 237 points, at 11,338. Because of this, the shares of the giant companies in America fell down. Jeff Bezos’ Amazon Inc fell 1.78 percent to $92.25. Apple Inc fell 1.49 percent, to close at $150.59. Elon Musk’s company Tesla Inc fell 4.99 percent to close at $172.92. Google’s parent Alphabet Inc fell 2.10 percent to $92.66 billion. Netflix fell 4.49 percent and Walt Disney shed 3.18 percent.
