Republican Party of India (Ramdas Athawale) leader and Union Minister reached Uttarakhand’s capital Dehradun. Here he reviewed the central schemes run by the state government’s social welfare department. He told reporters that removing Aurangzeb’s tomb will not solve anything.
Athawale said, “Do not remove the grave, instead build a big memorial of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje in Sambhajinagar. Many leaders including Vishwa Hindu Parishad in Maharashtra have demanded the removal of Aurangzeb’s grave. Protests have also been held at various places across the state. Hindu organizations allege that Aurangzeb tortured Hindus during his reign.
Ramdas Athavale further said that Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) protects the Aurangzeb’s tomb. We have to move forward with the ideology of Sambhaji Maharaj. There should be peace in the country.
Athawale, who is in charge of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, appealed to Muslims not to associate themselves with Aurangzeb. Athawale said, “My request to the Muslim community is that you should not associate yourself with Aurangzeb. The Muslims here were Hindus. The Muslims here are not the children of Aurangzeb.”
