Amid this, Dawoodi Bohra Muslim Delegation — comprising business leaders, doctors, professionals, educators, and other prominent members — met PM Narendra Modi at his residence in Lok Kalyan Marg on Thursday (18 April). They praised Central Government’s decision and extended their support to the Waqf Amendment Act. They narrated how properties belonging to community members were wrongfully claimed by the Waqf. The community members expressed gratitude to the PrimeM modi. They praised PM Modi’s effort how he remembered not only the minorities but the Dawoodi Bohra Muslims community, the “minority within minorities”. They said, India has always allowed their identity to flourish and under PM Modi’s leadership, they feel the spirit of inclusion. The delegation mentioned PM Modi’s vision for Viksit Bharat 2047 and offered their full support in building a developed India. Along with this, the community member praised several key initiatives like Aatmanirbhar Bharat, support for MSMEs. They emphasized that these have been very helpful especially for small businesses. The delegation also appreciated Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative and other measures towards empowering Nari Shakti.
Prime Minister Modi, while addressing the delegation underlined the years of effort behind the Waqf Amendment Act. The PM recalled the difficulties many women, especially widows faced due to the earlier system. PM Modi said how he has been connected with the Dawoodi Bohra community since long. He also acknowledged the contribution of Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin in shaping the Act. He said Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin was one of the first people he discussed about the Waqf Amendment Act.
