Hindi Compulsory in Maharashtra: Hindi is now compulsory in schools across Maharashtra. Along with Marathi and English, Hindi is now also compulsory from Class 1. This is because Maharashtra Government has adopted the National Education Policy. This decision will be implemented from the upcoming academic year 2025-26. According to the new policy, Hindi language has been made compulsory along with Marathi and English from class 1. According to the new educational policy, three languages - Marathi, English and Hindi – will be compulsory in classes 1 to 5. After Marathi and English, the third language will be Hindi.
There is a possibility of a new controversy in the state over making Hindi compulsory from the first grade. Tamil Nadu and other southern states have already opposed the decision. The Tamil Nadu government has adopted an aggressive stance against this. On the other hand, in Maharashtra too, various organizations are likely to become aggressive over the decision.
