Heatwave in Pune: Pune is once again experiencing heatwave like condition as temperatures soared to a scorching 42.7°C in Lohegaon. With this, it marked the hottest day of the season so far on Tuesday. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert to take necessary precautions for heat-related illnesses. With Lohegaon, Shivajinagar also seen a sharp rise in temperature. It recorded 41.3°C. It is the first time that Shivaji Nagar has crossed the 41-degree mark this season. With this, other areas of Pune such as Koregaon Park recorded 41.4°C, Chinchwad 40.3°C and Pashan 40.6°C temperature.
For next few days, citizen are not going to get any relief from extreme weather. IMD has predicted hot winds and clear skies from the north. It’ll be responsible for the temperature spike in coming days. However, some relief is expected after Thursday as moisture-laden winds from the south may help reduce the heat intensity. No official statement has been issued yet but people are advised to take necessary precautions. The IMD has advised to stay indoors between 11 am and 4 pm and avoid outdoor activities, stay hydrated.
